New Documentary Highlights the Fight Against Telecom Fraud in Northern Myanmar

Beijing, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : A three-part documentary titled “The End of Telecom Fraud in Northern Myanmar” premiered from October 5 to 7 on CCTV-1 and CCTV-13, under the auspices of China Media Group (CMG). Produced jointly by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and CMG, the series highlights the significant efforts and achievements of public security agencies in combating crimes linked to China in Northern Myanmar. It specifically focuses on the eradication of notorious criminal groups known as the “four major families.”

The first episode exposes the extensive web of telecom fraud in Northern Myanmar, revealing the brazen nature of criminal gangs and the harsh realities behind their fraudulent operations.

The second episode delves into the behind-the-scenes story of how Chinese judicial authorities overcame geographical barriers and law enforcement challenges to pursue criminals across borders, addressing crimes that have plagued the region.

The final episode presents a new landscape of cross-border anti-fraud efforts. It covers joint operations between China and Myanmar in the Muse area, as well as coordinated actions against fraud gangs involving China, Myanmar, and Thailand in Myawaddy, demonstrating a sustained increase in efforts against cross-border crime.

Additionally, the Chinese government has initiated the establishment of an international coalition involving 46 countries to tackle telecom and online fraud. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive anti-fraud network by connecting global law enforcement agencies and addressing the root causes of cross-border telecom fraud, showcasing China’s commitment as a leading power in this global effort.
