New Delhi, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : Dr. Rajan Singh recently addressed comments made by Rahul Gandhi and Jitan Ram Manjhi regarding the transgender community. Speaking at the “Students’ Echo” event, Singh emphasized that the term “transgender” should not be viewed as derogatory, but rather as a respected identity.
In response to Gandhi’s alleged remarks branding him as an “unthinking follower,” Singh challenged the former Congress leader to reflect on the rights of the transgender community during his family’s time in power. He pointed out that the community has not received adequate rights under their governance, urging Gandhi to clarify what actions were taken for transgender rights during his grandparents’ administration. Singh expressed his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he regards as a divine figure.
Addressing Manjhi’s comments about Chirag Paswan, Singh reiterated that the term “transgender” is not offensive. He expressed pride in his transgender identity and highlighted his role as a representative of the Bihar government. Singh raised concerns about the lack of clear gender identification on election forms, questioning how the public would know the gender of candidates if it is not specified. He indicated plans to petition the Chief Justice and the Election Commission for amendments to this effect.
Singh also referenced recent events in Jamui and remarks made by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary regarding caste. He noted that gender identity is equally important and called for the government to engage in discussions about the rights of the transgender community, which has faced long-standing struggles. Singh demanded the construction of a grand temple in Bihar dedicated to Narendra Modi, asserting that it will be built at any cost.
