Gujarat Integrates Fire Services with Dial 112 Emergency System
Gujarat has unified its fire emergency services with the Dial 112 platform, enhancing response efficiency across multiple emergency services.

Ahmedabad, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Gujarat government has successfully integrated its fire emergency services into the ‘Dial 112’ platform, a move that brings together medical, police, fire, and women and child emergency services under a single emergency response system. This initiative positions Gujarat as the first state in India to fully unify these four critical emergency services.
The ‘Dial 112’ service, launched across Gujarat on August 31, 2025, aims to establish a streamlined emergency response mechanism. Initially, police emergency response was incorporated through a comprehensive digital process. This included receiving emergency calls at the command and control center, dispatching ‘Jan Rakshak Vans’, monitoring responses, and digitally concluding incidents via a mobile application.
With the latest integration, the same digital architecture is now applied to fire emergencies, replacing the previous system where citizens reported fires by calling 101. Under the new system, fire-related emergency calls are directed to the state control room of Dial 112. This system records incident details and digital locations, identifies the nearest available fire vehicle, and assigns tasks directly through mobile data terminals (MDTs).
The first phase of this initiative is being implemented in six municipal corporations: Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar, and Bhavnagar. A total of 237 fire and rescue vehicles have been equipped with GPS and MDT technology. This allows firefighters to receive real-time emergency alerts, confirm task assignments digitally, navigate to incident sites using maps, and communicate with the command center digitally.
Moreover, the new system enables field teams to request additional firefighting resources digitally when needed. It is designed to reduce reliance on sequential voice-based communication between control rooms, fire centers, and vehicles, which previously caused delays in emergency details transmission and vehicle deployment.
The integrated platform manages the entire emergency response cycle digitally, from initial calls and processing to vehicle identification, dispatch, on-site response, and final closure. When an incident concludes, the relevant fire center can digitally close the call by recording necessary details, creating a systematic record of the entire response.
Data generated through this system will be analyzed to assess response and travel times, vehicle utilization, incident locations, fire emergency frequency and types, resource requirements, and regional response performance. Periodic analysis is expected to inform decisions regarding the deployment of additional fire centers, vehicles, and personnel in areas where resource needs exceed response time requirements.
