Tragic Shooting of Punjabi Youth During Pizza Delivery in New York

New York, August 24: A tragic incident unfolded in New York when a 28-year-old Punjabi youth, Gurdeep Singh, was shot and killed while delivering pizza. The Indian mission in New York expressed deep sorrow over the event and assured the victim’s family of all possible assistance.

Gurdeep, originally from Kapurthala, Punjab, had moved to the United States 13 years ago with dreams of providing a better future for his parents back home. Reports indicate that the shooting occurred on August 21 during what is suspected to be an attempted robbery. The assailant fled the scene after firing the weapon.

When police arrived, they found Gurdeep with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to CBS News, paramedics rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

The Indian Consulate in New York expressed condolences, stating that officials are in contact with Gurdeep’s family. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, they wrote, “We are deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of Indian citizen Gurdeep Singh in a shooting incident in Brooklyn, New York.”

The post continued, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. The Consulate is in touch with the family and is providing all possible support.” Meanwhile, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
