Tragic Road Accident in Korba Claims Two Lives
A road accident in Korba, Chhattisgarh, resulted in the deaths of two individuals following a collision between a scooter and a motorcycle.
Korba, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic road accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Korba, Chhattisgarh, when a scooter collided with a motorcycle on the Gevra-Tiper road in Kusmunda. Following the impact, both riders were struck by a trailer.
The motorcycle rider was caught under the trailer’s wheels, while the scooter rider, a young woman, died at the scene. The accident caused chaos, drawing a crowd of onlookers to the site.
Reports indicate that heavy vehicles were rerouted to the Tiper road due to the closure of a railway underbridge for repairs, leading to increased traffic on this alternate route. This incident has raised concerns about safety measures on the busy road.
Upon receiving news of the incident, the Kusmunda police arrived at the scene. They assessed the situation and took possession of the bodies to initiate further proceedings. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, and police are working to establish their names.
This accident follows another severe incident that occurred late Sunday night, where a van collided with a trailer near Tharudi village in the Hata police jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh. That crash resulted in the deaths of six individuals, with two others suffering serious injuries. The injured were referred to Gorakhpur Medical College for treatment. Among the deceased, five were from the same family returning from a ceremony.
Additional Superintendent of Police Siddharth Verma reported that the eight occupants of the van were returning home from a tilak ceremony when their vehicle collided with a truck approaching from the opposite direction. Six passengers lost their lives, while the two survivors were promptly taken to the medical facility.
Verma stated that the bodies had been sent for post-mortem and that legal proceedings were underway. Families were notified, and an investigation into the accident’s causes has commenced.
A relative of one of the victims confirmed the fatalities and mentioned that the injured were being treated in Gorakhpur, with arrangements to return the bodies post-autopsy.
