Mother and Son Murdered in Bihars Bhojpur District, Police Investigate Family Dispute

A mother and son were brutally murdered in Bhojpur, Bihar. Police suspect a family dispute may be the motive behind the crime.

Bhojpur, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : In a tragic incident in Bhojpur district, Bihar, a mother and her son were murdered late Tuesday night in the village of Tenduni. The attack involved sharp weapons and a hammer, which police discovered at the crime scene stained with blood. Initial investigations suggest that a property dispute may be the motive behind the killings. Authorities are currently questioning the deceased’s elder son and daughter-in-law.

The victims have been identified as Ramvati Kunwar (55), the wife of the late Vishwamitra Singh, and her younger son, Sunil Kumar (25). According to Ravi Kumar, the sub-divisional police officer of Jagdishpur, police received reports of the double homicide around 2 a.m. on Tuesday night. Upon arrival, they confirmed the deaths of Ramvati and Sunil.

Following a thorough inspection of the site, a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was summoned to gather crucial evidence. The team collected various samples from the scene, including the bloodied hammer. Preliminary examinations and autopsies revealed severe injuries on both victims, indicating they were attacked with sharp instruments, particularly around their necks and other body parts.

The SDPO noted that Sunil’s elder brother, Dinesh Kumar, is married to Shanti Devi. Investigators are probing the possibility of a family feud over property as a potential motive for the murders. Dinesh and Shanti have been brought to the police station for questioning regarding the incident. Evidence has also surfaced indicating that bloodstains were washed away in Dinesh’s home. The police are exploring the involvement of other potential suspects as well. The SDPO stated that evidence is being collected, and further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
