Karnataka BJP Claims Sting Operation Will Impact Congress in 2028 Elections
BJP leader R. Ashoka asserts that a sting operation involving Siddaramaiah will have lasting effects on Congress future electoral prospects.

Bengaluru, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : Senior BJP leader and opposition head R. Ashoka stated on Wednesday that a recent sting operation linked to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has exposed internal strife within the Congress party. He suggested that this turmoil contributed to the party’s defeat in the recent Legislative Council elections.
Ashoka warned that the fallout from the Siddaramaiah sting controversy will affect Congress in the upcoming 2028 elections. He cited concerns raised by senior Congress leader and MLA K.N. Rajanna, who expressed that the scandal could negatively impact the party’s electoral chances.
The BJP leader alleged that disgruntled members within Congress orchestrated the sting operation against Siddaramaiah. He claimed that even the former Chief Minister’s supporters and voters are now turning against the party.
In a sharp critique of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ashoka argued that the infighting and policies within the Congress government led to its electoral losses. He accused the government of repeatedly betraying farmers, cutting pensions for vulnerable groups, and failing to allocate sufficient funds to various government departments.
Ashoka also pointed to mismanagement in the state’s finances, highlighting rising costs of milk and bus fares that have further burdened the populace. He asserted that citizens are beginning to realize the detrimental impact of this government, warning that Congress will soon face the consequences of its poor governance.
Regarding the sting operation, Ashoka remarked that Congress is currently navigating a political storm, but he predicted that voters will launch their own operation against the government in future elections, leading to its ousting.
In the recent Legislative Council (MLC) elections, the ruling Congress party faced defeat in all four seats. Following this, tensions flared between supporters of Siddaramaiah and Chief Minister Shivakumar within the party.
The NDA secured all four MLC seats, with the BJP winning three and the Janata Dal (Secular) claiming one. K.N. Rajanna, a close aide to Siddaramaiah, noted that the controversy surrounding the sting operation has tarnished the party’s image and could be a key factor in its poor performance.
Conversely, supporters of Shivakumar, including Municipal Administration Minister H.C. Balakrishna, accused Rajanna and his son of neglecting the party’s candidates and engaging in anti-party activities, calling for disciplinary action against them.
