ED Conducts Raids at 11 Locations in Kerala and Chennai
The Enforcement Directorate has launched raids at 11 locations in Kerala and Chennai linked to a cooperative society investigation.

Thiruvananthapuram, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a series of raids on Wednesday at 11 locations across Kerala and Chennai. This operation is part of an investigation into a cooperative society and its promoter.
Officials from the ED’s Kerala unit reported that the raids targeted members associated with the ‘Bharat Lajhna Multi-State Cooperative Society’ (BLM), including its founding member and current CMD, R. Premkumar.
Allegations suggest that R. Premkumar and others misused their influence, transferring millions collected from depositors into personal accounts belonging to his wife and relatives. Furthermore, they allegedly mortgaged the society’s ‘Ragam Theatre’ to ‘Brios Finvest’ without receiving any funds and acquired nearly 500 acres of land in Kanchipuram under his wife’s name. Authorities are currently awaiting official updates regarding the evidence and items seized during these raids.
In a related development, Kerala’s Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has instructed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations that the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) violated regulations while attempting to appoint an SFI leader to the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) through a special recruitment process.
A total of 17,392 candidates applied for this position, with the application deadline set for September 10, 2025. The written examination took place on December 31, followed by a physical efficiency test on March 16, 2026. Interviews were conducted on April 22, and the final rank list was published on May 6.
Chennithala has tasked SIT head Ajita Begum with investigating a complaint filed by R.S. Shashikumar, president of the Save University Forum. The complaint alleges that the recruitment process was advanced under the leadership of KPSC Chairman M.R. Baiju. The KPSC had decided to appoint SFI leader K.J. Jithin from Ernakulam through this special recruitment initiative, with claims that it was aimed at securing the appointment before the end of the previous LDF government’s term.
