Satish Punia targets Rahul Gandhis rally in Punjab, questioning his stance on the 1984 events as political tensions rise ahead of elections.

Chandigarh, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in Punjab as the 2027 Assembly elections approach. BJP leader Satish Punia has taken aim at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi ahead of his ‘Insaf Rally’ scheduled for Wednesday in Sangrur district. Punia emphasized that the events of 1984 continue to resonate with the public, who have not forgotten the past.
Speaking to the media in Chandigarh, Punia stated that before discussing justice in Punjab, Gandhi should address the issues surrounding the 1984 riots. He suggested it would have been more appropriate for Gandhi to come prepared with answers for the people of Punjab regarding this sensitive topic.
Punia pointed out that questions about those responsible for the 1984 incidents still linger today. He asserted that when Gandhi speaks about the rights of Punjab, he should first reflect on his own party’s history.
In response to Gandhi’s challenge for a debate with Prime Minister Modi, Punia remarked that the public has given Congress nearly 55 years to govern. He noted that there are numerous issues the general populace wants to discuss with Congress, but the party lacks satisfactory responses. Punia advised Gandhi to consider his own party’s record before seeking a debate with Modi, even suggesting that a discussion with any BJP worker could yield many questions regarding Congress.
Punia also referenced the 1984 events, stating that the wounds from that period are still fresh in the national memory. He criticized Congress for holding a significant rally on the anniversary of the riots, questioning their intentions. He stressed the importance of remembering the impact of those events on affected families and the community.
Regarding BJP’s alliances in Punjab, Punia mentioned that some decisions are still pending and require careful consideration.
Tensions continue to rise as both parties prepare for a heated electoral battle in the coming months.
