
Madhubani, August 9: A tragic road accident in the Benipatti police area of Madhubani district, Bihar, resulted in the deaths of three women on Sunday morning. The incident occurred near the Jagdamba petrol pump when the women were returning home from their morning walk.
An out-of-control unidentified vehicle struck them, leading to their immediate deaths. The victims have been identified as Rita Devi (42), Kiran Devi (40), and Phuldai Devi (70), all residents of Navtoli village.
Reports indicate that a group of women had set out for their usual morning walk. Around 6 AM, they were on their way back when some of them paused to rest by the roadside near the Jagdamba petrol pump. At that moment, a black unidentified vehicle traveling from Rahika towards Benipatti hit them.
The collision was so severe that the women had no chance to react, resulting in their deaths at the scene. Upon receiving news of the accident, police from Benipatti and Arer arrived promptly. The incident sparked significant outrage among local residents, leading to a road blockade.
Long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the Jagdamba petrol pump, extending for about a kilometer. A large police presence has been deployed at the scene. Officers are negotiating with the victims’ families and villagers to clear the blockade. The police have initiated the process to send the bodies for post-mortem examinations. They are also reviewing CCTV footage in the area to locate the fleeing driver. The village of Navtoli is currently in mourning, and the police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
