Tragic Incident in Mumbais Lalbagh Claims Two Lives Due to Electric Shock

Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic accident occurred in Mumbai’s Lalbagh area late Sunday night, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including an eight-year-old girl. The incident took place around 2 a.m. outside a Ganapati pandal, where an electric shock from an exposed wire affected several people.

According to police reports, the shock originated from a wire connected to a Pepsi-Cola stall located near Aastha Hospital on Dattaram Lad Marg. The area was crowded due to the Ganapati festival, and chaos ensued when the current spread unexpectedly.

The FIR filed at the Kalachowki police station states that the incident happened during the early hours of Sunday. The young girl, identified as Ragini, was standing near the exposed wire when she was electrocuted. She was rushed to Masina Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 33-year-old woman named Sujata Thorati also succumbed to her injuries at Global Hospital. Four others were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police have filed charges of negligence against stall operator Kamal Shetty under sections 106(1) and 125(B) of the Indian Penal Code and have initiated an investigation. Reports indicate that the electrical wiring at the stall was improperly managed, leading to this tragic event.

Authorities are currently investigating the specifics of the electrical connection and the negligence that resulted in this devastating incident.
