Tragic IED Blast in Chhattisgarh Claims Lives of Three Security Personnel

Raipur, May 2: A tragic IED explosion near the border of Kanker and Narayanpur districts in Chhattisgarh has resulted in the deaths of three members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), with one soldier critically injured. The incident occurred while security forces were engaged in de-mining, area domination, and search operations.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his sorrow over the incident and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated, “I have received the extremely sad news of the martyrdom of three brave DRG soldiers and the injury of one soldier during the de-mining operation in the Kanker-Narayanpur border area. I pay my humble respects to the martyrs and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured soldier.”

He further added, “I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the grieving families to bear this unbearable loss. The state government stands firmly and sensitively with the families of the martyrs and the injured soldier. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will always be remembered.”

It is reported that four DRG personnel were injured in the IED blast, including Inspector Sukhram Vatti, Constable Krishna Komra, and Constable Sanjay Garhpale, who lost their lives at the scene. Meanwhile, critically injured Constable Paramanand Komra is receiving advanced medical care.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundar Raj Pattilingam stated that based on information from surrendered Maoist cadres and other intelligence inputs, security forces had recovered and neutralized hundreds of IEDs in recent months. However, explosives hidden by Maoists still pose a significant threat. He noted that today’s unfortunate incident occurred while the Kanker district police team was attempting to deactivate an IED when it suddenly exploded.
