
Belagavi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic fire incident occurred late Monday night in Belagavi, Karnataka, claiming the lives of four members of a single family. Two additional individuals sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a private hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical. The incident took place in the Chavahat Gali area, within the jurisdiction of the Market Police Station.
According to reports, the family was inside their home when a sudden explosion occurred in their refrigerator. This explosion ignited a fire that rapidly engulfed the entire house. The flames spread so quickly that those inside had little time to escape. Several individuals were trapped in the blaze and suffered fatal injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Gajanan Damone (65), Roshan Damone (21), Sharda Damone (45), and Bharti Radmone (50). Priya Damone (28) and Ganga Damone (25) were seriously injured in the fire and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Emergency services, including police and firefighters, arrived promptly at the scene. Firefighters worked diligently to bring the blaze under control. Once the fire was extinguished, a search of the premises revealed the bodies of the four victims, which were subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.
The family, known to be daily wage laborers, has left the community in mourning, particularly on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The local residents are deeply saddened by the loss.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary information suggests that the fire was triggered by the explosion in the refrigerator. However, the exact cause of the explosion and how the fire spread so rapidly are still under investigation. The police are also looking into the circumstances that prevented the family members from escaping the flames.
