Greater Noida, August 4: A devastating fire broke out early Tuesday at ILGIM, an electronics chip manufacturing company located in the Ecotech-3 area of Gautam Buddha Nagar. During firefighting efforts, a wall and a heavy iron beam collapsed, tragically injuring five firefighters.
The injured were rushed to the hospital, where two of them, firefighter Rohit Yadav and chief driver Tirathpal Singh, were pronounced dead by doctors. Reports indicate that the fire was reported around 3 AM on August 3-4, 2026, prompting immediate action from local police and multiple fire brigade units.
Despite the firefighters’ efforts to control the blaze, the sudden collapse of the wall and beam trapped five personnel under debris. The injured included chief driver Rajpal Singh, firefighter Manish Kumar, chief driver Tirathpal Singh, and firefighters Amit Kumar and Rohit Yadav. While Rohit Yadav and Tirathpal Singh succumbed to their injuries, the other three are reported to be out of danger and receiving ongoing treatment.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. Preliminary information suggests that the company was involved in the production of electronic PCB chips. Senior police officials, fire department representatives, and a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have arrived at the scene to assist with rescue and investigation efforts.
The police have stated that a thorough inspection of the site is underway, and all aspects of the incident will be examined, including whether safety protocols were followed at the facility. The administration has expressed deep condolences for the loss of the two firefighters, and legal proceedings related to the incident have commenced.
