A college student tragically drowned during Ganesh immersion in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, raising concerns about safety and negligence.

Krishnagiri, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : A college student lost his life in a tragic drowning incident during Ganesh immersion festivities in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Dilip, was a final-year engineering student at a private college. He hailed from Molangaram Patti village in Tirupattur district.
The incident occurred near the Manjamedu area of Pochampalli, where crowds gathered to immerse Ganesh idols in the Thenpennaiyar River, accompanied by music and chanting. Throughout the morning, various groups had been immersing idols when Dilip entered the river with friends for the same purpose. He was rushed to a local hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Local police responded to the scene promptly after receiving reports of the incident. They have since sent Dilip’s body for a post-mortem examination and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
