Police Officer Suspended for Misconduct Against Tribal Students in Bhopal

A police officer in Bhopal has been suspended for misconduct towards protesting tribal students, prompting calls for accountability and justice.

Bhopal, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : In Bhopal, a police officer has faced suspension following allegations of misconduct towards tribal students. The incident occurred as these students were protesting for their rights and addressing various issues. They were heard chanting slogans such as “Jai Johar” during their demonstration.

Ratan Singh Parihar, the officer in charge of the Misrod police station, reportedly lost his temper amidst the students’ protests and behaved inappropriately. A video capturing the incident has since gone viral on social media. The state’s Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, has taken the matter seriously, leading to Parihar’s suspension and the initiation of an investigation.

Opposition leader Umang Singhhar condemned the officer’s actions, emphasizing that the incident reflects a severe disregard for the rights of those advocating for constitutional and democratic values. He highlighted that “Johar” is not an insult but a symbol of tribal culture, identity, dignity, and respect—a greeting that embodies love, honor, and brotherhood.

Singhhar urged the Chief Minister to ensure that the power of the uniform is utilized to protect citizens rather than demean them. He called for accountability from law enforcement, asserting that any misuse of power by police officers must be addressed decisively.

He demanded an immediate FIR against the guilty officers and insisted on stringent action. Singhhar reiterated the struggle for the respect of constitutional rights, democracy, social justice, and the dignity of tribal identity.
