FIR Filed Against Journalist Rozi and Others Over Allegations of Casteist Remarks in Delhi

Delhi police have registered an FIR against journalist Rozi and others for alleged casteist remarks and public humiliation during a protest.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against journalist Rozi, Gajendra Singh, and several members of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) following a complaint by ACP Vivek Bhagat. The FIR, lodged at the Parliament Street police station, includes allegations of casteist remarks, public humiliation, obstruction of government duties, and defamation via social media.

The FIR was registered on October 13, naming Rozi, Gajendra Singh, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Sourav Das, and Ratna Singh. In his complaint, ACP Bhagat stated that he was on duty maintaining law and order during a protest against the Election Commission at Jantar Mantar on October 3. According to him, Rozi allegedly made derogatory comments about his caste (Megh/Meghwal) and questioned his appointment as ACP.

Bhagat reported that he ignored these comments and continued with his responsibilities. However, during efforts to manage and detain protesters around 3 PM, Rozi accused him of sexual harassment. The ACP claimed that Rozi and his associates repeatedly confronted him, hindering his official duties.

Furthermore, Bhagat alleged that during a protest outside the Parliament Street police station that evening, he was subjected to derogatory slogans and comments. The complaint also noted that Rozi, Gajendra Singh, and others shared posts, videos, and reels against him on social media platforms like X and Instagram. Bhagat stated these actions caused him mental distress and harmed his social and professional reputation.

The FIR cites provisions under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Section 221 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 356(2) of the IPC, and Section 3(5) of the IPC. Bhagat also mentioned that Rozi’s complaint of sexual harassment against him has been forwarded to the Delhi police’s Crime Branch, which is already investigating the matter.

The police are currently conducting further inquiries, and the validity of the allegations will be confirmed after the investigation. It is important to note that the inclusion of an individual’s name in the FIR does not imply guilt.
