Tragic Collision on NH-23 Claims Two Lives in Ramgarh

Ramgarh, June 24: A severe road accident occurred late Wednesday night on National Highway-23 near the Samrat Hotel in Baralong, Ramgarh district. A collision between an auto rickshaw and a bus resulted in the deaths of two individuals, while two others sustained serious injuries.

According to reports, the auto rickshaw was transporting passengers towards Ramgarh when it collided head-on with an oncoming bus. The impact was so intense that the auto was completely wrecked, with its front end crumpled into the bus. Following the accident, chaos erupted at the scene, temporarily disrupting traffic on NH-23.

Upon receiving the news, Krishna Kumar, the officer in charge of the Rajrappa police station, arrived with a police team. With the assistance of local residents, all injured individuals were promptly taken to the Sadar Hospital in Ramgarh.

Dr. Kamleshwar Prasad, the emergency duty doctor at the hospital, reported that four individuals were brought in, among whom a woman and a man were declared dead. One of the deceased has been identified as Riya Kumari, a resident of Sukrigadha, who was en route to a family event in Ramgarh. The identity of the second deceased, the auto driver, is still being verified.

The injured, Ravi Ranjan Bharti and Amit Kumar, received initial treatment before being referred to Ranchi for advanced care. Both are reportedly employed as locomotive pilots at the Patratu Railway.

Eyewitnesses described the collision as extremely violent, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene and initiate rescue efforts. Following the incident, local residents expressed outrage, attributing the accident to reckless driving and a lack of road safety measures.

The police have seized the wrecked bus and auto rickshaw and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
