Tragic Bus Accident in Telangana Claims Five Lives

Hyderabad, August 26: A devastating bus accident occurred early Wednesday on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway in Telangana’s Suryapet district. Five passengers lost their lives at the scene, while 20 others sustained serious injuries. The injured have been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the accident took place around 5:20 AM near Durgapuram Stage in the Kodad mandal of Suryapet district. A private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada collided with a container truck from behind. At the time of the incident, there were 42 passengers on board the bus.

The impact was so severe that the front of the bus was extensively damaged. The collision caused panic, with screams echoing at the accident site. Local residents and passersby quickly gathered to assist in rescuing the passengers. Unfortunately, five individuals had already succumbed to their injuries by the time help arrived. Approximately 20 others were reported to be critically injured.

The police were promptly notified of the incident. Upon arrival, they secured the bodies and rushed the injured to the nearest hospital. Among the wounded, three are in critical condition and have been referred to Vijayawada for further treatment. There are concerns that the death toll may rise.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao expressed his sorrow over the tragic accident in Suryapet district. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed the Chief Secretary to ensure better medical care for the injured.
