Tragic Bridge Collapse in Jammu Claims Lives of Three Workers

Jammu, May 2: A bridge under construction in the Bantlab area of Jammu suddenly collapsed, resulting in the tragic deaths of three workers. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his sorrow over the incident and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. He also instructed the district administration to provide necessary assistance to the affected families.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor stated, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and property due to the bridge collapse in Bantlab, Jammu. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and pray for the quick recovery of the injured. I have directed the district administration to provide essential support to the affected families.”

Earlier, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed his condolences and prayed for the peace of the departed souls. He instructed a thorough investigation to determine the causes of the incident and ensure accountability.

It is reported that a section of the bridge collapsed unexpectedly on Friday, causing chaos and panic at the site. Several workers were trapped under the debris, with three confirmed fatalities. According to reports, as soon as the bridge section fell, the workers who were present at the site were buried under the rubble.

Upon receiving news of the incident, teams from the police, army, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. Local administration also engaged in relief efforts. It was noted that the bridge had suffered damage during last year’s floods, and repair work was ongoing when this tragic accident occurred.
