On the social media platform X, Priyanka Gandhi wrote, “The news of the martyrdom of five brave soldiers in the Air Force plane crash in Assam is deeply saddening. May God grant peace to the departed souls. My heartfelt condolences are with their families.” She further stated that the nation will always be indebted to our brave soldiers and their families.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also conveyed his condolences regarding the Assam plane crash. Sharing a photo of the fallen soldiers on X, he remarked, “The news of the demise of our five brave air warriors in the Indian Air Force AN-32 aircraft accident in Jorhat, Assam, is extremely sorrowful and heart-wrenching.”
He noted that Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveer Danish Alam made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation. The nation will always remember their indomitable courage, dedication, and commitment. He prayed, “May God grant the departed souls a place at His feet and give the grieving families the strength to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti.”
On Saturday, an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while landing at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam, resulting in a fire and the tragic loss of at least five Indian Air Force personnel. The fire broke out immediately after the aircraft landed, prompting the Air Force and airport fire teams to initiate emergency response measures.
The Indian Air Force headquarters stated that the crash occurred around 10:00 AM during a routine flight in Jorhat, Assam. Management of the crash site and initial investigations are ongoing.
