Chennai, June 13: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay is set to celebrate his 52nd birthday on June 22. This will be his first birthday since taking office, and he plans to mark the occasion in a unique way.
In previous years, this day was primarily celebrated as a film star’s birthday. However, this time, Vijay aims to commemorate it by launching several public welfare initiatives for his constituents.
According to party and government sources, the Chief Minister is expected to inaugurate his legislative office in Vyasarpadi, located in the Perambur assembly constituency, on his birthday. This office is designed to facilitate direct communication between the legislator and local residents, equipped with facilities to better address public grievances.
It is noteworthy that during the assembly elections, TVK leader Vijay won two seats: Perambur and Tiruchi East. However, he later vacated the Tiruchi East seat, retaining Perambur.
As part of the birthday celebrations, Vijay is also expected to engage with local residents and cut a birthday cake with them. Party officials state that the Chief Minister wants to ensure this occasion reflects his commitment to public service rather than a typical political celebration.
In a bid to strengthen grassroots engagement, it is understood that Vijay plans to hold a special public interaction program in Perambur every month. Under this proposed initiative, one day each month will be dedicated to meeting with local residents and directly addressing their requests.
Officials have indicated that the Chief Minister wishes to personally review complaints, ensuring that urgent matters receive immediate attention and action.
Sources also revealed that the legislative office is being prepared not just as an administrative center but as an active hub for community outreach. Arrangements are being made for accommodations and other essentials, allowing Vijay to stay at the office during visits to his constituency and review meetings when necessary.
Party members view these proposed initiatives as part of Vijay’s significant effort to maintain a close relationship with voters, despite the responsibilities of holding the highest executive position in the state.
As his first birthday as Chief Minister approaches, these planned activities are expected to highlight his focus on reaching out to the public, connecting with constituents, and running an efficient government.
