Kuwait City, 16 August (Kiran News). Twenty-three people have died in Kuwait following the consumption of toxic liquor, with all the deceased reported to be of Asian origin. The Health Ministry made this announcement late Thursday night. On Saturday, the ministry stated that the number of people admitted to hospitals has increased to 160, including 40 Indian nationals.

According to the Arab Times newspaper, the Health Ministry said that treatment is ongoing for 160 patients, of whom 31 are on ventilators and 51 have required kidney dialysis. Vision loss has occurred in 21 individuals. In this regard, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait issued an official press release on 13 August, stating that, as per the announcement of Kuwait’s Health Ministry, nearly 40 Indian citizens have been admitted to hospitals in recent days.
The Embassy added that some of those hospitalised have died, while the condition of several others remains critical. Upon receiving the information, the Ambassador and other embassy officials visited the relevant government hospitals.
