TMCs Mohammad Azmal Siddiqui Resigns, Alleges Coercion and Fear Tactics

Kolkata, June 6: A new controversy has erupted in West Bengal politics. Mohammad Azmal Siddiqui, the state secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) minority cell, has made serious allegations against the party leadership following his resignation.

In an interview, Siddiqui expressed, “After resigning, I feel very free. I feel lighter and more at ease now.”

He claimed that there is no real opportunity to work for the interests of the minority community within the party. According to him, “There is no work being done for minorities here. They are given nothing but empty promises. This is why I did not want to remain in this position.”

Siddiqui alleged that the party has engaged in politics of intimidation and exploitation. However, he praised Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, expressing hope that he would unite all communities.

He stated, “People have been threatened and used, but I hope Suvendu Adhikari will bring both Hindu and Muslim communities together and lead Bengal in the right direction.”

Siddiqui claimed that he was pressured to join the TMC in 2015-16. He revealed, “We were in business. Binoy Mishra, on behalf of Abhishek Banerjee, asked us for money. When we refused, false cases were filed against us. We had to seek bail from the Supreme Court and High Court. We joined the party out of fear of Abhishek Banerjee.”
