
Mumbai, June 14: In a significant police operation, three criminals were apprehended during an encounter in Gonda. The incident occurred when a joint team from the Kargilganj police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) engaged with the suspects. During the confrontation, one of the criminals, identified as Ramchandra, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was subsequently captured.
Additional Superintendent of Police (West), Radheshyam Rai, reported that the encounter took place on Saturday night. Alongside Ramchandra, two other accomplices, Naim and Chand Babu, were also arrested.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspects are part of an inter-district gang of thieves, with more associates yet to be identified. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, a cartridge, and a stolen mobile phone from the suspects.
In a related incident, a wanted criminal with a bounty of ₹50,000 was arrested in a police encounter in Loni, Ghaziabad, on the same day. The suspect was shot in both legs during the confrontation and has multiple cases registered against him in the NCR region.
According to ASP Siddharth Gautam, the police had been investigating the kidnapping of Omkar Singh from Ganoli village, which occurred on May 30. Efforts to apprehend those involved in the incident were underway, leading to the recovery of a pistol, live cartridges, and the vehicle used in the crime.
