Ahmedabad, June 26: Police have dismantled an inter-state motorcycle theft gang operating in Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha district, and Rajasthan. This operation led to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of 15 stolen motorcycles, along with the identification of 11 vehicle theft cases. The local crime branch (LCB) Zone-4 of the city conducted this operation.

The LCB Zone-4 has been actively monitoring property crimes, particularly vehicle thefts, based on intelligence reports. On March 29, under the supervision of PSI S.M. Patel, the LCB team acted on specific intelligence in the Naroda police station area.

During this operation, a minor was apprehended, with seven stolen motorcycles recovered from his possession. These included five motorcycles stolen from Naroda, Krishnanagar, Shahrkotda, and Bapunagar areas of Ahmedabad, one motorcycle from Himmatnagar ‘A’ division in Sabarkantha, and one from the Jhallara police station area in Rajasthan’s Salumber district.

The total value of the recovered vehicles is approximately ₹1.85 lakh. Further investigations led to the identification of two accomplices, who were declared wanted. They were identified as Ranjeetsingh Rathore and Lalitkumar Meena from Rajasthan’s Salumber district.

Today, the LCB Zone-4 team arrested both wanted suspects based on reliable information in the Meghaninar area. This action was part of ongoing surveillance related to vehicle theft cases. During interrogation, the suspects assisted the police in recovering eight additional stolen motorcycles.

These included six motorcycles stolen from the Shahibaug, Meghaninar, Madhavpura, Krishnanagar, and Bapunagar police station areas in Ahmedabad, one from Himmatnagar ‘B’ division in Sabarkantha, and one from the Ahor police station area in Jalore district, Rajasthan.

The total value of the recovered vehicles now stands at approximately ₹2.65 lakh, bringing the overall recovery to 15 stolen motorcycles. The investigation also uncovered 11 vehicle theft cases registered at various police stations in Ahmedabad and outside Gujarat.

The accused are alleged to have been involved in theft activities since 2023 and were working in collaboration with the previously arrested minor. According to the investigation, the suspects frequently traveled to Ahmedabad for labor work, stopping at various locations.
