New Delhi, June 26: Brigadier General Staff Mohammed Khamis Mohammed Al-Hosani, Deputy Commander of the UAE Army, met with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday. The discussions focused on enhancing military cooperation between India and the UAE.
The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) shared on social media platform X, “UAE Army Deputy Commander Brigadier General Staff Mohammed Khamis Mohammed Al-Hosani met with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. The meeting emphasized the growing strength of defense relations between India and the UAE. Both sides discussed enhancing military cooperation, strengthening professional exchanges, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration between the two armies.”
According to ADGPI, both nations reiterated their commitment to strengthening institutional ties, building mutual trust, and advancing shared goals of regional security and stability.
In January this year, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India, where he engaged in detailed discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on several key issues.
Both leaders acknowledged that defense and security cooperation between India and the UAE is continuously strengthening and is a vital part of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
A joint statement released after the meeting noted, “Both leaders welcomed the recent visits of the chiefs and senior commanders of the armed forces, navy, and air force of both countries. They also appreciated the successful military exercises conducted between the two nations and welcomed the signing of a ‘Letter of Intent’ towards a Strategic Defense Partnership.”
General Upendra Dwivedi also officially visited the UAE in January, as part of India’s efforts to strengthen defense cooperation and relationships with friendly nations.
During his visit, General Dwivedi met with senior officials of the UAE Armed Forces, gaining insights into the structure, responsibilities, and capabilities of the UAE military. He toured several key military installations in the UAE and engaged with stationed officers and soldiers, emphasizing the increasingly robust defense relations between India and the UAE.
