
Beijing, June 26: Chinese Communist Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping met with Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian People’s Party and Senate, in Beijing.
During the meeting, Xi congratulated the Cambodian People’s Party on its 75th anniversary. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party, Cambodia will continue to achieve new milestones in nation-building and national rejuvenation efforts.
Xi recalled his state visit to Cambodia last April, where he collaborated with Cambodian leaders to initiate a new chapter in building a shared future community between China and Cambodia. Over the past year, political trust between the two nations has strengthened, cooperation across various sectors has deepened, and their traditional friendship has gained new significance in this new era.
He emphasized that the current international and regional landscape is complex and undergoing profound changes. In such times, China and Cambodia must fulfill their responsibilities to enhance regional peace, stability, and development. Xi urged both countries to strengthen their strategic mutual trust, firmly advance on the path of development and rejuvenation, maintain long-term peace and stability in their nations, and set an exemplary model of strategic cooperation.
Xi appreciated Cambodia’s adherence to the One-China principle and its support for China’s major concepts and initiatives. He expressed China’s readiness to enhance coordination and cooperation with Cambodia to further strengthen friendship and collaboration among neighboring countries in the region, fostering a spirit of mutual benefit.
Hun Sen expressed full agreement with President Xi’s assessment of the unbreakable friendship between China and Cambodia, as well as the construction of a shared future community in this new era. He extended heartfelt congratulations on the remarkable developmental achievements China has achieved under Xi’s leadership and the guidance of the CPC Central Committee.
Hun Sen noted that China has made significant contributions to the stability and development of all countries, particularly those in the Global South, including Cambodia. He thanked China for its continuous support in allowing the Cambodian government and the Cambodian People’s Party to choose a development path that aligns with their national circumstances, promote economic and social development, and safeguard national interests.
He affirmed that regardless of changes in the international situation, Cambodia will remain steadfast in its friendship with China, firmly support the One-China principle, endorse all efforts for China’s complete national unification, and resolutely oppose any separatist activities aimed at “Taiwan independence.”
