New Delhi, July 29: In a dramatic encounter in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, police apprehended three alleged cattle traffickers after they sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. The suspects were taken into custody and admitted to a community health center (CHC) for treatment. Authorities reported the recovery of illegal firearms, cartridges, tools used for cattle slaughter, and a live bull from the suspects.
According to Circle Officer Sukanya Sharma, on July 28, the Singhavali Ahir police were conducting an operation to arrest suspicious and wanted individuals. During this operation, they received intelligence indicating that some wanted suspects under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act were present in the village of Ramnagar. Acting on this information, the police team cordoned off the area and initiated action.
As the police attempted to apprehend the suspects, they opened fire with the intent to kill. In response, the police fired back in self-defense, resulting in gunshot wounds to the legs of all three suspects. Following their injuries, they were arrested and promptly sent to the CHC for medical care.
During interrogation, the suspects were identified as Shabbir, son of Siddique, a resident of Singhavali Ahir (Baghpat), Mahboob, son of Farooq, and Nawazish, son of Mahboob, both residents of Sarurpur (Meerut).
Police reported the seizure of three country-made pistols, six cartridges, and various tools used in cattle slaughter, along with the successful rescue of a live bull from the scene.
Circle Officer Sukanya Sharma noted that each of the arrested suspects had a bounty of ₹25,000 on their heads. They have multiple prior cases registered against them related to cattle slaughter and other criminal activities. Additionally, there are registered cases against them at the Doghat police station concerning cattle slaughter.
Currently, the three suspects are receiving medical treatment, and the Singhavali Ahir police are proceeding with further legal action in the case.
