Mumbai, March 28: Farida Jalal and Aruna Irani, both prominent actresses from the 1960s, have made significant contributions to Hindi cinema alongside major stars. Despite working in the same industry, the two had not met for 29 years. This surprising revelation came from Aruna Irani during an episode of Indian Idol.
On the set of Indian Idol, Farida Jalal and Aruna Irani were seen together after a long time. The show featured nostalgic images from Farida’s first film, “Takdeer,” which brought her to tears. Following “Takdeer,” Farida starred in “Aradhana,” where she shared the screen with Rajesh Khanna. Reflecting on the past, she remarked, “So many years have passed, and all the old memories have come rushing back.”
Aruna Irani was also present on the show and expressed her gratitude to Sony TV for facilitating their reunion after “Bobby.” She explained that their roles in films often mirrored each other, making it challenging for them to meet. “Thanks to this show, we have reunited after so long,” she stated.
Farida shared that their last collaboration was in “Bobby,” where Aruna was known for her exceptional dancing skills. “She could start dancing at any moment, and it was astonishing to watch her,” Farida recalled. Interestingly, after 29 years, both actresses worked together again in the film “O Romeo.” However, it remains unclear if they met on set. Nevertheless, their reunion on Indian Idol was a joyous occasion for both.
