Telangana Chief Minister Accuses BJP of Injustice in Seat Allocation

Hyderabad, April 14: Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy has strongly criticized the BJP, accusing them of plotting injustice against southern states in the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. He called for a movement to increase the number of seats proportionately.

While addressing the celebrations for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on Tuesday, Reddy reiterated that the BJP is engaged in schemes that undermine southern states during the delimitation process.

He stated that under the guise of increasing seats based on a 50 percent criterion, the BJP is attempting to reduce the allocated quota for southern states. “We must fight to ensure that the number of seats in southern states increases proportionately,” he emphasized.

Reddy declared that his government will always be at the forefront of any noble cause. He warned that the delimitation based on the 50 percent criterion would result in injustice not only to women but also to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in southern states.

The Chief Minister paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, highlighting his crucial role in guiding the nation towards progress, equating it to that of Mahatma Gandhi. He referred to both leaders as the “two eyes” of the nation.

Reddy noted that while Gandhi demonstrated that a peaceful struggle could win without shedding blood, Ambedkar showed that governance could be conducted in a manner that serves as a model for the world.

He emphasized Ambedkar’s firm belief that education holds the power to transform lives, asserting that his philosophy is the essence of democratic governance.

Reddy also mentioned that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi played a significant role in the formation of Telangana through the provisions of Article 3. He acknowledged the vital contribution of marginalized and weaker sections of society in the Telangana movement.
