Amaravati, March 16: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has taken serious note of the incident involving its MP, Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav, who was caught with drugs at a farmhouse in Hyderabad. He has been instructed to refrain from party activities.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grave concern over the matter. The incident occurred during a police raid on Saturday night at the farmhouse of former BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy, located near Moinabad, where the MP tested positive for drugs.
Following Naidu’s directives, Palla Srinivas Rao, president of the TDP’s Andhra Pradesh unit, issued a notice to the Eluru MP, demanding a written explanation regarding the allegations within five days.
Srinivas Rao emphasized that the party leadership is taking the allegations of drug use and the extensive media coverage surrounding the incident very seriously. The party believes that such events could severely damage its reputation.
The TDP president has requested a detailed clarification from Putta Mahesh on the matter. He has also been directed to stay away from party activities until a full report is received.
Srinivas Rao instructed the MP to provide a written explanation within five days, stating that the party would take necessary action based on his response.
According to TDP sources, the party president has made it clear that such activities by any leader will not be tolerated.
The Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) reported that Putta Mahesh and Rohit Reddy were among six individuals who tested positive in the drug investigation. The raid was conducted based on credible information.
A case has been registered at the Moinabad police station under various sections of the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and the Telangana State Excise Act.
Putta Mahesh was released on station bail on Sunday, while the other accused were being presented before a magistrate.
