Patna, March 18: Former MP Anand Mohan has expressed dissatisfaction over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the Rajya Sabha.
In a conversation with reporters on Tuesday, Mohan claimed that while Kumar is set to enter the Rajya Sabha, the people of Bihar are not pleased with this development. He stated, “Now, he can go anywhere.”
Additionally, Tejashwi Yadav referred to his defeat in the Rajya Sabha as an assault on democracy. Responding to this, Mohan remarked that Yadav’s current situation leaves him with no options, having faced multiple electoral defeats in recent years. “This reaction cannot be accepted under any circumstances,” he added.
Mohan advised Yadav to focus on his responsibilities as the Leader of the Opposition, emphasizing that it would be in his best interest to fulfill this role with dedication, as the people of Bihar have entrusted him with it.
When asked whether the Chief Minister should come from the JD(U) or the BJP, Mohan stated that it cannot be dismissed that Kumar was presented as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the Bihar Assembly elections. “The entire election was fought under his face. Any steps taken should align with this, but the situation has changed significantly,” he noted, suggesting that current efforts seem aimed at strengthening the RJD.
Mohan also addressed the recent rape case in Chapra, stating, “We are going there to assess the situation. We do not attempt to divide crime based on caste. If something wrong has happened to the girl, justice will certainly be served.”
Rajiv Pratap Rudy has called for a CBI investigation into the case. In response, Mohan claimed that a CBI inquiry would yield little. “If a genuine investigation is desired, a judicial inquiry would be more effective. It should be led by a retired or regular judge,” he suggested.
He welcomed Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics, stating that prioritizing the youth in Bihar’s political landscape would invigorate the political scene.
