Tarun Chugh Criticizes Opposition to Vande Mataram as Intellectual Bankruptcy

New Delhi, May 9: The political discourse surrounding the ‘Vande Mataram’ anthem has intensified following comments made by AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has strongly condemned those opposing ‘Vande Mataram,’ labeling them as intellectually dishonest and bankrupt.

In an interview with a news agency, Chugh asserted that ‘Vande Mataram’ is more than just a song; it symbolizes the country’s freedom, patriotism, and sacrifice. He emphasized that for the past 150 years, India’s patriots, revolutionaries, freedom fighters, and satyagrahis have sung ‘Vande Mataram’ with pride.

Chugh noted that many revolutionaries embraced the gallows while chanting ‘Vande Mataram,’ sacrificing their lives for the nation’s independence. He stated, “Vande Mataram is the mantra of our freedom and the battle cry of revolutionaries.”

Criticizing Owaisi’s remarks, Chugh claimed that those who oppose ‘Vande Mataram’ are intellectually dishonest and bankrupt. He described it as absurd, asserting that standing in respect during the anthem is a matter of pride for every Indian. The BJP leader stressed that national anthems and symbols should not be viewed through a political or religious lens, as they are integral to the country’s unity and the legacy of the freedom struggle.

During a media interaction in Delhi, Chugh also launched a scathing attack on Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. He accused Mann of spreading false allegations and confusion to divert public attention from his government’s failures and incompetence.

Chugh pointed out that the government has no answers regarding bomb blasts, the rising gangster network, drug trafficking, and mafia activities in Punjab. He alleged that corruption is rampant, and the state’s resources are being openly looted, while the government engages only in political rhetoric instead of addressing these serious issues.

He remarked that the AAP had promised a green revolution and minimum support prices (MSP) for 24 crops before coming to power, yet no substantial actions have been taken. Farmers have received neither additional support nor effective MSP, leading the youth, farmers, women, and the poor in Punjab to feel cheated.

Chugh also criticized the AAP over alleged land scams and corruption. He stated, “Those who once distributed certificates of honesty are now proving to be entirely dishonest.” He referenced cases of fake land documents, CLU approvals, and large cash transactions, indicating that this is not just an isolated incident but reveals a larger network of land theft in Punjab.

He accused Punjab of being looted from two fronts: one by those connected to Delhi and the other by the elected representatives and ministers involved in corruption.

Additionally, Chugh attacked the Congress party over growing rifts within the INDIA bloc and rising dissent against Rahul Gandhi. He labeled Gandhi as the biggest opportunist in Indian politics, claiming he relies on regional parties but ultimately harms them.

Chugh alleged that Gandhi’s political maneuvers have led to increasing conflicts within the opposition alliance. He noted that differences are surfacing among Congress and its allies in several states, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The BJP leader asserted that Congress appears as a fractured, broken, and mentally bankrupt party across the country.
