
Bengaluru, June 13: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay visited the renowned Kollur Mookambika Temple in Karnataka’s Udupi district on Friday to offer prayers to Goddess Mookambika.
During his visit, CM Vijay donated a 16-kilogram silver sword to the temple. Dressed in traditional red attire, he entered the temple, where a large crowd of admirers welcomed him with applause and cheers.
Despite light drizzle, Vijay paused briefly to greet his supporters before entering the temple. He received a warm welcome from temple officials, who performed a traditional pooja and tied a sacred thread around his wrist.
Vijay arrived at Mangaluru International Airport from New Delhi and went directly to the temple guest house. After donning traditional clothing, he participated in the temple rituals and offered his prayers.
Speaking to reporters, Babu Hegde, the president of the Kollur Mookambika Temple, noted that Vijay’s visit lasted approximately 20 minutes. Hegde mentioned that the Chief Minister prayed like other devotees and did not have any specific requests. He stood in front of the sanctum sanctorum, prayed, and then departed, having spent about 20 minutes in the temple. All necessary security arrangements for the visit were in place.
In anticipation of Vijay’s arrival, security was heightened in and around the temple complex. Police were deployed to manage the large crowd eager to catch a glimpse of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Earlier, CM Joseph Vijay arrived in Mangaluru to visit the famous Hindu pilgrimage site, Kollur Mookambika Temple. Due to the expected influx of devotees, Karnataka police had increased security measures in the temple area and temporarily restricted entry for pilgrims until Vijay completed his prayers.
With a significant fan following in Karnataka, police officials had anticipated heavy crowds at both the temple and the airport. Security was also intensified at Mangaluru International Airport, with personnel from both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police deployed. Vijay traveled from Delhi on a special flight and proceeded to Kollur by road.
