Chennai, May 31: Tamil cinema’s beloved actor Ajith Kumar laid his mother, Mohini Mani, to rest on Sunday in Chennai. Family, relatives, film personalities, and well-wishers gathered to bid her a tearful farewell.
The 84-year-old Mohini Mani passed away on Saturday due to age-related health issues. She had been residing at her home in Palavakkam, Chennai. Reports indicate that her health had deteriorated in recent times, and she faced several health challenges due to her advancing age.
At the time of her passing, Ajith Kumar was in Dubai, engaged in professional commitments. Upon receiving the news of his mother’s demise, he immediately returned to Chennai. The Tamil film industry was engulfed in sorrow following the announcement, with political leaders, film artists, and fans expressing their deep condolences.
Ajith Kumar’s father, P. Subramaniam, had also passed away in 2023 after a prolonged illness. During this difficult time, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay visited Ajith Kumar’s home to meet the family and extend his sympathies.
Numerous prominent figures from the film industry came to pay their respects to Mohini Mani. Actors and politicians R. Sarathkumar, Nassar, and actress Trisha Krishnan, among others, visited Ajith Kumar’s home to offer their condolences. All paid tribute to the departed soul.
On Sunday, Mohini Mani’s final journey began from Injambakkam. A large crowd gathered to pay their respects during the procession. The last rites were performed at the crematorium in Besant Nagar, where Ajith Kumar bid farewell to his mother in accordance with family traditions.
