
New Delhi, May 31: In a significant development, Asad, the main accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan, was killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated that no criminal involved in the murder will be spared.
Pathak emphasized that the police had apprehended Surya’s killers, and the main accused was eliminated in a retaliatory action. He assured that all individuals involved in this murder and related crimes will face justice. The government is fully committed to maintaining law and order, following strict orders from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding this case.
Reena Bhati, former chairperson of the Ghaziabad Municipal Council, expressed hope for justice for the family and commended the government for maintaining public trust in law enforcement. She remarked that the encounter dealt with a person of extremist ideology, warning that anyone following such a mindset will meet a similar fate in the future.
According to police officials, Asad had a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head. He was accused of attacking a 17-year-old with a knife on May 28, leaving the victim in critical condition. Despite all efforts by doctors, Surya Pratap Chauhan could not be saved.
Police received intelligence that Asad was planning to flee with accomplices after collecting money. Acting swiftly, the police set up barricades for checks. During the attempt to stop Asad, who was riding a motorcycle with an accomplice, the accused allegedly fired at the police.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, Asad was injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital. A police officer was also shot during the encounter. This incident is being viewed as a major success in the high-profile murder case, especially as demands for justice and strict action against the culprits had been rising.
