Taapsee Pannu to Join From Pink to Power Panel at Film Festival

Mumbai, August 18: Actress Taapsee Pannu will participate in a panel titled ‘From Pink to Power: Breaking Stereotypes Through Cinema’ at an upcoming film festival. She believes that cinema becomes more engaging when female characters are portrayed as complex and fearless.

Expressing her excitement about the special session, Taapsee stated, “For me, breaking stereotypes has always involved taking risks and portraying a woman who may not fit the mold that people expect. This session will discuss how cinema can challenge deeply rooted stereotypes, change the way women are depicted on screen, and inspire audiences to think beyond clichéd narratives.”

The actress revealed that she will share insights about her journey, career-defining choices, and the risks of working outside traditional norms. She will also emphasize the significant responsibility of using cinema to raise questions and provoke thought among viewers.

She added, “Films like Pink and Thappad sparked major discussions because the characters I portrayed were not designed to fit a predetermined template. I have always believed that cinema becomes more intriguing when we allow women to be depicted as less vulnerable, complex, ambitious, and fearless. I am very eager to discuss these decisions and the conversations they have sparked at this film festival.”

The film festival will take place from August 20 to August 23, 2026, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, featuring numerous prominent personalities. Recently, Taapsee was seen in the film ‘Aastha’, directed by Anubhav Sinha, where she plays a fearless lawyer fighting for justice for a gang-rape survivor.
