A. R. Rahman to Unveil Emerging Singers in Tamil Nadu with Tamil Idol Auditions Starting August 18

Mumbai, August 17: Renowned composer A. R. Rahman, whose voice and music have captivated millions worldwide, is on a quest to discover new talents from Tamil Nadu. Through the upcoming show ‘Tamil Idol,’ he aims to spotlight emerging singers who have yet to receive a significant platform. Auditions for the show will commence on August 18, allowing singers from every corner of Tamil Nadu to apply.

The announcement of ‘Tamil Idol’ was made by Sony Vijay. This show provides an opportunity for aspiring singers to showcase their talent. A. R. Rahman will be directly involved in this search, making it a unique opportunity for new artists. The objective of the show is not just to find a winner but to recognize voices from various regions of Tamil Nadu that have the potential to become prominent names in the future.

A. R. Rahman stated, “The search for new voices is a crucial part of the music world. Many of the voices we hear for the first time go on to reach millions. This journey will also aim to bring forth new talents along with their unique perspectives and untold stories. ‘Tamil Idol’ will bring the finest voices of Tamil Nadu to a single platform, where their skills can be recognized and honored.”

Auditions will begin on August 18. Interested singers can register through the Sony Liv app, eliminating the need to be physically present at a specific location. Participants unable to attend in person can also take part from their homes.

To register, participants must select the ‘Tamil Idol Auditions’ section on the Sony Liv app and complete the registration process by filling out their necessary personal information.

Meanwhile, A. R. Rahman remains active internationally, recently composing music for the Arabic psychological fantasy-thriller film ‘Bab’ directed by Nayla Al Khaja. This marks Rahman’s first collaboration on an Arabic film.
