Suspected Rapist and Murderer Killed in Police Encounter in Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr, August 9: A suspect in a rape and murder case, identified as Monu, was killed in a police encounter in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Monu had a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head. During the encounter, two police officers, including a SWAT team inspector, sustained injuries.

Both the station chiefs of Gulawathi and Sikandrabad were also shot while wearing bulletproof vests. According to police reports, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar and Constable Narendra Kumar from the SWAT team were injured in the gunfire. One of Monu’s accomplices managed to escape, prompting ongoing combing operations by the police. A pistol, two magazines, cartridges, and an unregistered motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh stated that the police were conducting checks in the area when they signaled two suspicious individuals to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the officers. In the ensuing exchange, one criminal was seriously injured, while the other fled into the darkness.

Following the encounter, Monu was rushed to a community health center (CHC) alongside the injured officers. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to the district hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.

Police confirmed that Monu was wanted in connection with the rape and murder of a minor girl in the Kakod area. A case was registered at the Kakod police station on August 1, leading to the announcement of the ₹50,000 reward.

SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh revealed that the deceased suspect had multiple criminal cases registered against him in various districts, including Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddh Nagar, GRP Bareilly, and GRP Aligarh.
