Surjewala Dismisses Power Sharing Speculations in Karnataka

Bengaluru, May 28: Amidst ongoing speculation about leadership changes in Karnataka, AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala addressed the media on Wednesday. He firmly rejected any rumors of ‘power sharing’ within the Congress party, stating that no official decision regarding a change in Chief Minister has been made.

While he refrained from directly commenting on the rumors surrounding Siddaramaiah’s potential resignation, Surjewala praised both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for their contributions to the party.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Surjewala emphasized that there is no discussion of ‘power sharing.’ He clarified that the recent meeting was focused on the upcoming Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections. Key figures in the discussion included Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and K.C. Venugopal.

Addressing the current political speculations, Surjewala dismissed these reports as mere rumors. He stated, “Many people are spreading different stories. So far, no Congress assembly meeting has been convened. These are all speculations.”

He reiterated that both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are vital leaders within the party, assuring that any decisions made will prioritize the interests of the people of Karnataka. “Siddaramaiah is a very important leader with significant political stature. He has served as Chief Minister twice,” he noted.

Surjewala also commended Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar for emerging as a young leader who has worked under several Chief Ministers. “Shivakumar has risen as a grassroots leader. We do not make decisions favoring any individual; our decisions are made in the interest of the public,” he concluded.
