Surge in Pilgrims at Char Dham Yatra: 160,000 Visit Kedarnath Temple

Rudraprayag, April 27: Officials confirmed on Monday that the Char Dham Yatra is witnessing an overwhelming response from devotees across the country. So far, approximately 160,000 pilgrims have visited the Kedarnath Temple for worship.

District Magistrate Vishal Mishra of Rudraprayag stated that the increasing number of devotees reflects the deep faith and enthusiasm of worshippers seeking blessings at one of Hinduism’s holiest shrines. Since the temple doors opened on April 22, he has been stationed in Kedarnath, closely monitoring arrangements and the flow of pilgrims.

Mishra remarked, “I have observed immense enthusiasm among people from all over India for this pilgrimage and darshan. So far, around 160,000 devotees have visited Kedarnath. Naturally, it takes time for such a large number of pilgrims to complete their visits.”

He also acknowledged some challenges in managing the heavy crowd, including minor thefts like pickpocketing and mobile snatching. However, he assured that the administration and police are actively working to address these concerns.

“Strict monitoring is in place. We are conducting regular inspections and paying special attention to the operation of the helipad to ensure visitors face no inconvenience,” he added.

Meanwhile, other religious sites are also experiencing a steady influx of pilgrims. Preparations are in full swing in Haridwar as devotees gather in large numbers to commence their spiritual journeys.

Haridwar’s District Magistrate Mayur Dixit highlighted the smooth progress of registration and management efforts.

“With the temple doors now open, the pilgrimage has gained full momentum. Since offline registration began on April 17 at Rishikul, over 25,000 pilgrims have registered. Online registration continues, and arrangements have been streamlined for the convenience of all visitors,” he stated.

Officials further noted that coordinated efforts among various departments, along with regular inspections, are ensuring the smooth operation of the pilgrimage.

According to a report from the State Emergency Operations Center in Dehradun, by Saturday evening, a total of 238,590 pilgrims had prayed at the revered sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri.

On Saturday alone, 55,998 pilgrims reached the Char Dham, reflecting the growing popularity of the annual pilgrimage.
