Surge in AI Job Postings in India: Sixfold Increase Since 2019, Report Reveals

New Delhi, May 20: Job postings related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India have surged nearly sixfold compared to 2019. A report released by strategy consulting firm Redseer Strategy Consultants highlights India’s rapid emergence as a global hub for AI talent and implementation centers.

The report indicates that the rise in AI-based recruitment will significantly transform India’s office market. In the coming years, there is also expected to be a strong increase in demand for flexible workspaces.

Titled “AI and the Future of Flexible Workspaces,” the report predicts that between 2025 and 2030, an additional demand of approximately 79 million square feet could arise in India’s knowledge-economy office space. This demand is projected to exceed previous estimates of growth prior to the AI boom.

Chhavi Singh, Associate Partner at Redseer Strategy Consultants, stated, “Until now, discussions around AI have primarily focused on its impact on employment. However, we are witnessing a significant structural change in how office space is utilized.”

She added, “AI-based teams have become more specialized, collaborative, and agile. This is driving the demand for the ‘core plus flex’ workplace model, where companies seek flexibility without compromising on infrastructure and employee experience.”

According to the report, AI-related job postings in India are expected to surpass 290,000 by 2025. This surge is primarily driven by the increasing demand for talent in areas such as machine learning, generative AI, and ML Ops.

The report also notes that India has now reached the second position globally in terms of AI talent concentration growth, fueled by rising investments in AI, which have reached approximately $582 billion worldwide.

Additionally, the report highlights India’s historical ability to transform technological changes into employment and economic growth opportunities.

By 2025, India’s office space is projected to expand to around 915 million square feet, with total employment numbers reaching approximately 330 million workers.

The study also mentions the rapid expansion of India’s flexible workspace sector. From about 33 million square feet in 2020, it is expected to grow to over 103 million square feet by 2025.

Approximately 82% of surveyed companies indicated plans to increase their use of flexible workspaces in the next two years.

The report anticipates that AI-based recruitment alone could contribute nearly 31% to the total demand for flex seat leasing by 2030.
