Sunil Gavaskar Comments on Vaibhav Suryavanshis Ongoing Absence from Playing XI

New Delhi, July 2: In the first T20 International match between India and England, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was once again not included in the playing eleven. Former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar believes that this delay in his international debut will only increase the pressure on Vaibhav.

Gavaskar shared his thoughts during an interview with Sony Sports Network, stating, “Whenever Vaibhav gets an opportunity, this delay will add more pressure on him. However, at the age of 15, you don’t think much about pressure. He knows that if he gets a chance in the second or third match, he must perform well. Nevertheless, he is happy to be part of the team. The Indian team is filled with outstanding players from whom Vaibhav can learn a lot.”

If Vaibhav gets a chance in the series against England, he will become the youngest player to participate in men’s T20 Internationals. Currently, this record belongs to Ireland’s Joshua Little, who made his debut at the age of 16 years and 309 days. Vaibhav would also surpass Sachin Tendulkar to become the youngest Indian player to play in international cricket, as Sachin made his debut at 16.

The first T20 International match between India and England was abandoned due to rain. After winning the toss, India batted first, scoring 189 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. However, heavy rain prevented England from batting, leading to the match being called off. For Team India, Abhishek Sharma scored 59 runs, while captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 68 runs. Shivam Dube also made a notable impact, scoring an unbeaten 42 runs off 21 balls. However, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Tilak Varma failed to make significant contributions with the bat.
