Mumbai, August 2: Suman Kumar, hailing from a humble family in the Koiribigha village of Barbigah block, Bihar, has experienced a remarkable transformation thanks to the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This initiative has not only made him self-reliant but has also enabled him to create job opportunities for others. With the benefits of this scheme, he revitalized his furniture business and expressed his gratitude to the central government.
Suman shared his life struggles and the impact of the PMEGP scheme with a news agency. After completing his intermediate education, he began searching for employment due to financial constraints. However, the lack of substantial job opportunities in Bihar forced him to move to Mumbai.
In Mumbai, Suman worked for nearly five years at a company, but his heart always longed for his village and family. Eventually, he returned home and opened a small furniture shop in Barbigah market. Despite his efforts, limited resources made it difficult to sustain his family and cover his children’s educational expenses. During this challenging time, a friend informed him about the schemes offered by the industrial department and advised him to visit the Sheikhpura industrial department office for more information.
Following his friend’s advice, Suman visited the industrial department, where staff explained the PMEGP scheme in detail. He applied for the scheme and soon received a loan with subsidies. This financial support allowed him to purchase modern machinery and expand his small furniture business significantly. Today, his situation has completely changed.
Suman’s business now generates a good income, ensuring better support for his family and uninterrupted education for his children. Most importantly, he has also provided employment to four other individuals through his business. Expressing his gratitude towards the PMEGP scheme, Suman states that this initiative is a blessing for unemployed youth like him. With the right information and guidance, young people can become self-reliant and create jobs for others.
