
Dantewada, April 4: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor, police in South Bastar Dantewada have achieved a major success under the direction of Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai. The operation was guided by Additional Superintendent of Police Ramkumar Barman and supervised by Sub-Divisional Officer Rahul Uyke.
On Saturday, a police team led by Inspector Dhananjay Sinha received a tip-off about a large quantity of illegal English liquor stored in a house near the Patarrasa Patwari Colony. Acting swiftly, the police team rushed to the location.
Upon arrival, a man standing near the house attempted to flee into the forest, taking advantage of the darkness, and escaped. During the search, the police discovered 35 cartons of illegal English liquor hidden in one of the rooms. Additionally, a Hero Honda Glamour motorcycle (registration number CG-05C-1162) and an Activa scooter (registration number CG-17-KD-4044) were also seized from the scene.
The total estimated value of the seized liquor and vehicles is ₹2,53,200. The police have registered a case against the absconding accused under Sections 34(2) and 36 of the Excise Act. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
This successful operation involved the significant contributions of Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Guruvanta Barge, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narendra Bharti, and constables Manoj Negi and Kamlesh Komre.
Superintendent Gaurav Rai emphasized that the campaign against illegal liquor, narcotics, and other unlawful activities will continue in the district. He stated that the police’s efforts to ensure public safety and create a crime-free environment will be intensified.
The police have issued a clear warning to illegal liquor traders, stating that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such illicit activities. The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively searching for the fugitive accused.
