Mumbai, July 20: Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Dr. ST Hasan, has sharply criticized the government regarding several issues, including the Maulana Ali Jauhar University, the proposed Vande Mataram Bill, police action during a protest at Jantar Mantar, and comments from Asim Raja concerning the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s upcoming rally.
Dr. Hasan stated, “The accusations against me are baseless. Those making these claims are merely repeating what they have been told. I have stood alongside Azam Khan from the foundation to the inauguration of the university. I have an emotional connection to it. I only suggested that the Governor and Chief Minister should intervene to find a solution so that the temple of education is not demolished and no bulldozers are used.”
He emphasized that those who have accused him need to read his statements carefully.
Regarding the demolition of 38 buildings at the university established by SP leader Azam Khan, ST Hasan remarked, “Such people mislead Azam Khan. He is a straightforward and honest person, which is why he sometimes gets troubled by their words. In my opinion, these individuals make such statements to enhance their profiles and fulfill their personal ambitions.”
Responding to allegations that the Kanwar Yatra was halted during previous governments, Hasan said, “Tell me, when has the Kanwar Yatra ever been stopped? It has never been halted. The Supreme Court‘s directives were followed, but the Yatra continued. People know the truth and should not be misled. This is a religious journey. We appeal for no violence during the Yatra and for adherence to the law. We Muslims also welcome the Kanwar Yatra.”
On the proposed rally by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Mumbai, Hasan commented, “Elections are approaching, and every political party has the right to campaign and reach the public. They are merely doing what is expected.”
Regarding the Vande Mataram Bill, Hasan stated, “The controversy over Vande Mataram has existed since the British era. Why is it being raised again now? You know elections are coming in Uttar Pradesh, the Ram Mandir donation issue is on the table, and the CJP is protesting. They are trying to divert attention by raising communal issues. We Muslims are ready to sacrifice our respect, wealth, and even our lives for the country, as we have proven in the past. However, if someone asks us to worship the land, Islam does not permit that. We cannot worship or pray to anyone other than Allah.”
On the protests by the Cockroach Public Party (CJP), Hasan remarked, “The way the youth are being charged with batons is unfortunate. They are the future of the country and are raising legitimate demands. They simply want fair examinations and an end to corruption. There is hardly any examination in the country that is free from corruption. A whole mafia is at work, and for some, it has become a business. What is wrong with demanding the resignation of the concerned minister?”
Responding to BJP’s claim that the Samajwadi Party has ‘hijacked’ the CJP protests, Hasan stated, “How is this hijacking? If someone is raising a legitimate issue, is supporting them considered hijacking? If the Samajwadi Party stands for the youth of the country, the future of the nation, and justice, what is the problem? You should also step forward. If you had ensured the minister’s resignation earlier and assured the nation that there would be no corruption, this situation would not have arisen.”
On the donation theft case at the Shri Ram Temple, Hasan expressed, “It is clear that what happened inside the temple is very disturbing. As a Muslim, I feel insulted by the theft at the temple. If those responsible are the same individuals who have risen to high positions of power in the name of Lord Ram, shouldn’t there be a fair investigation? I want to emphasize that there should be a complete and impartial investigation. No matter how influential or high-profile a person is, if found guilty, they should be brought to justice and punished according to the law.”
