Srinagar Police Seizes ₹3.5 Crore in Assets Linked to Drug Traffickers

Srinagar, April 25: The Jammu and Kashmir police in Srinagar announced on Saturday that they have seized assets worth ₹3.5 crore linked to a drug trafficker as part of a robust crackdown on drug-related activities.

According to a police statement, this action is part of an ongoing campaign to combat drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir. The seizure includes properties associated with drug traffickers under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The Sangam police station executed the seizure under FIR number 56/2025, which involves charges under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The seized assets include a two-story residential house and 1 kanal of land belonging to the accused Shakeel Ahmed Gani, son of Satar Gani, residing in Krishbal, Noorbagh, Srinagar. Additionally, another accused, Farooq Ahmed Mir, son of Rahman Mir, also from Krishbal, Noorbagh, has a two-story residential house valued at over ₹2 crore and another two-story house worth approximately ₹1.5 crore along with 1 kanal of land.

On the same day, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in an anti-drug campaign held in Samba. He stated, “Today, a large crowd in Samba joined the drug-free Jammu and Kashmir campaign, pledging to eradicate drugs from society. I reiterated that this 100-day movement will inspire future generations and serve as proof that when people unite, they can change history.”

He further encouraged the youth of Samba, saying that the solution to this serious issue lies in their hands. “Their dreams are powerful, their potential is limitless, and society should support them in realizing those dreams. I urged them to stay committed to the right path,” he added.

The Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces are conducting aggressive operations against drug traffickers, drug peddlers, and those involved in hawala rackets. These illegal activities are under strict surveillance, as it is believed that the funds generated from them are used to promote terrorism in the Union Territory.

While police and security forces are tackling drug issues in the interior areas, the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) are working to prevent drug trafficking, infiltration, and drone activities initiated by Pakistan’s ISI-supported terrorist organizations.
