
Colombo, June 2: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has unveiled the national player contracts for the 2026-27 season, featuring a total of 46 players. These contracts will be effective from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, and include categories A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and central contracts.
According to SLC, the classification is based on performance, consistency, fitness levels, future potential, and the strategic needs of Sri Lanka’s national teams across all formats.
Prominent players such as Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal, Wanindu Hasaranga, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Maheesh Theekshana have secured contracts. The list also features several experienced players alongside emerging talents.
Seven new players have been included in these contracts. First-time recipients of national contracts include wicketkeeper-batsman Kamil Mishara, batsman Lasith Croospulle, spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskant, seamer Isitha Vijayesundara, all-rounder Wanuja Sahan, left-arm spinner Dilum Sudhira, and all-rounder Tharindu Ratnayake.
The list comprises senior international players like Dushmantha Chameera, Dasun Shanaka, Prabath Jayasuriya, Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara, along with several young players who have made significant impacts in recent domestic and international seasons.
SLC stated that the purpose of these contracts is to provide players with the necessary support structure and resources to perform at the highest level, while also contributing to the long-term development of Sri Lankan cricket. The board emphasized that awarding these contracts reflects its commitment to recognizing performance, investing in emerging talent, and maintaining a strong group of players capable of representing the country in all international formats.
In a statement on Tuesday, the board congratulated all contracted players and especially welcomed those receiving national contracts for the first time. The issuance of these contracts demonstrates SLC’s ongoing efforts to reward good performance, nurture emerging talent, and build a robust group of players who can represent Sri Lanka in all international formats.
