
Galle, June 27: Sri Lanka A has made a remarkable comeback in the first match of the unofficial Test series against India A. After India A declared their first innings at 452/6, the host team managed to score 113 runs for the loss of 2 wickets by the end of the second day. Currently, Sri Lanka A trails India A’s first innings total by 339 runs.
Winning the toss at Galle International Stadium, the Indian team started strong with an impressive opening partnership between Ayush Pandey and Sai Sudharsan. The duo added 82 runs in just 23 overs.
Ayush scored 25 runs off 64 balls, hitting 3 fours before getting out. Following his dismissal, Sai Sudharsan took charge, forming a 90-run partnership for the third wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad (22) and adding 35 runs for the fourth wicket with Dhruv Jurel. Sudharsan scored 132 runs off 175 balls, including 19 boundaries.
India lost 4 wickets for a score of 217. From this point, Dhruv Jurel provided stability to the innings. He built a solid 136-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Sheikh Rashid and added 86 runs for the sixth wicket with Harsh Dubey. Rashid scored 63 runs with 5 fours, while Dubey contributed 30 runs. Jurel remained unbeaten at 141 runs off 215 balls, hitting 14 boundaries. Chamika Gunasekara was the standout bowler for the opposition, claiming 3 wickets, while Dilum Sudira took 2.
In response, Sri Lanka faced 31 overs by the end of the day. They suffered an early blow at just 13 runs when Niroshan Dickwella (10) was dismissed. The team lost Pavantha Virasinghe (11) at a total of 38 runs. However, Ashin Bandara and Nuwanidu Fernando steadied the innings, adding 75 runs for the third wicket. Currently, Anshul Kamboj and Yash Thakur from the Indian side have taken 1 wicket each.
